Educational Excellence
Our curriculum focuses on developmentally appropriate skills and Kindergarten preparedness, to build a foundation for future academic excellence and a lifelong love of learning. Through our program children are supported in their development of competence, confidence, and self-esteem. Pre-school children learn through play and their own experiences within their environment. In our classrooms, we bring learning to life through active exploration, purposeful play, and discovery.
The foundation of our curriculum is found in the work of Harvard Professor Dr. Howard Gardner and his theory recognizing Multiple Intelligences. The theory examines each individual child's special gifts and unique way of learning in 8 areas of intelligence. This approach gives each child the opportunity to learn concepts on many levels and to adapt to the way they learn best. The Gardner approach addresses the academic and cultural needs of all children and advocates the values of caring and respect among the members of the school community. Children are encouraged to take initiative in their own learning, helping to ensure that they have the skills necessary for a successful transition into elementary school and beyond. Our related arts program is a special part of our commitment to educational excellence and part of learning in fun, meaningful ways.
